Installing turbo with IACV check engine light??
So what would go wrong with this situation? Installing a turbo with an IACV problem? I understand not to do it...but what with the consequences be? I heard of someone doing it, but never asked why and if anything happened. Let the comments begin!
Okay. The FIRST and ONLY thing I'll tell you is that whatever problems you are having WIHOUT the turbo will be amplified WITH the turbo. Don't BS around and try to install such a complex system ON TOP OF an engine that is having issues. You want the motor purring like a kitten BEFORE you introduce something like forced induction into the system
I cannot believe you actually have the nuts to ask what I think is a asinine question at best.

IACV. Idle Air Control Valve. Controls how much air your motor gets during cold starts. It's usually easy to fix. Don't touch a thing turbo-wise until it's done. You'll have enough problems with it, assuming you're downstepping from OBD2 to OBD1.
the iacv also controls idle in warm conditions!! IE when you tap the throttle and the rpms come back to idle nice and smooth.. thats the iacv working for you. Also when you put an electrical load on the engine.

okay grumblemarc..."I" didn't do this. this is why "I" asked the question. Did you not see the "!" after let the comments begin? i wanted to see what everyone has to say..i don't feel like getting yelled it. If you don't have anything good to say..don't say it. Don't call me out on something i didn't do. I asked the question, because I wanted to know what everyone else had to say about it. I ALREADY KNOW ITS WRONG! I don't act like i know everything..thats why i ask questions. its a forum...settle down. Everyone else answered it in a normal, human like fashion. You are the only one who always has an attitude. Why?
THANK YOU!!!!!!! EVERYTIME I SEE HIM POST SOMETHING HE ALWAYS HAS A SMARTA** COMMENT. RELAX!

Not referring to you at all, but it's more than likely from wave after wave of noobs coming in the forum asking RIDICULOUS questions. Just a theory as to why he may have a negative attitude toward some posts.
Why am I so grumpy? Stupid stuff sets me off.
You may not have done it but you asked because you were THINKING about doing it. Why ELSE would you even ask such an idiotic question? And if you wanted comments then you got MINE. It's a damn stupid idea and anyone that is stupid enough to try it or even contemplating it must be just as stupid.
Asking about something you claim to know is stupid is also stupid. If I already know the answer to a question I don't feel the need to ask it anyway just for the sake of having some bromance kind of chatroom conversation.

Stupid stuff sets you off? So have you ever been pissed at yourself? You obviously did not read the entire post. I was talking to some kid with a 95 civic the other day that had turbo'd his d16z6 with an IACV problem. i was confused on why he would do it, but hey, not my car..not my problem. I didn't get into the knitty gritty of the IACV problem..so i just wanted to see what could happen. That's why i asked. Like i said, i don't know everything there is to know..so i asked on what could go wrong..thats all. So no..i didn't think about doing it!
So which is it? You know or you do not know? Let's see you answer this question. Since you claim to know it would not be wise, how about you tell US why you might not want to turbocharge an engine that has obvious issues.
