Default Convert Engine from OBD1 to OBD2 possible?

SOrry if I posted this in the wrong forum. I have been searching and all I find is converting OBD2 to OBD1, but I need the complete opposite. I might be purchasing a B16A2 from a 92-95 to put on my 1997 Civic. I know I can put the OBD1 engine on my OBD2 car and modify the wiring harness and all the other stuff to make it work. My issue is that since I move a lot(military), I might end up in a State with more stict emission laws. If I were to try to convert the engine from OBD1 to OBD2, what would it take to make it function properly. From what I have searched I need an OBD2 VTEC ECU, need to change the distributor, need to probably change the oil pump to an OBD2 pump or probably do the CKF bypass trick. What else would I need? Is this even possible?

It is not the motor that decides if it is obd1 or 2 it is the ecu that decides, so it is possible. You would only convert the plugs on the dizzy, fuel injectors, and the alternator of the obd1 motor to work with an obd2 harness. You can also convert your car to run off an obd1 ecu with a jumper harness.

In the USA it is federally against the law to do what you speak of. A motor swap must be from the same year or newer. You will probably want to check to see what the laws are where you are at as well

Right now I am not concerned about the laws, since I am in Germany and the inspectors on base don't look for any of that stuff. My concern is when I go back to the states.

kinda depends whats on the b16a2 already

if your civic isnt an ex model go get an ex engine harness unless you want to add knock, vtec pressure, solenoid, etc..

but yea im pretty sure the owner of the eg has obd 1 dizzy, alternator, and fuel injectors.

if you want to BAR your car you must get ecu from 96-97 ecu which came with the b16a2 or convert your car to obd2b and get the 99-00 civic si ecu etc.

I have a DX hatch, but I ordered a 96-98 EX harness so I don't have to do much re-wiring. So if I get a 96-97 VTEC ECU(what is the code?), can I convert it to OBD2b? Or do I have to get a 99-00 EX wiring harness?

If you have all the sensors, wiring for sensors, ECU, harness, etc it shouldnt be a problem. but im not 100% on it tho..

I am in Germany, OBD2 B16 swaps are extremely rare. The other option is a B18C6 and it's just too expensive.

I am not going forward with this swap. I decided to play it safe and wait for an OBD2 engine to pop up some where or wait unitl I get back to the states.
