I drive a 94' Accord EX and recently my car will drive for a couple of seconds then it will make this disgusting noise, the check engine light will come on, and the car will shut off !! This usually happens when I accelerate or when I brake. I tried a at home diagnostic because I doubt if I can make it to my shop without more trouble and I believe that its the Map Sensor. Could someone tell me if I'm correct or what could possibly be wrong with it ?

 

When you did the "at home" self diagnosis check what code did you get? How many flashes did you get from the check engine light?

 

Thats what confused me .. my cel didnt flash but my abs light did

 

Then you are getting an ABS error code. What code are you getting?

 

Ok so I figured out I was looking at the wrong thing , the CEL code that appeared was 14 -idle air control valve

 

Could this be what is causing my problems ?

 

It certainly wouldn't help them.

There is a thread in the FAQ on how to remove and clean the IACV. However it sounds as if yours might just be past the point of cleaning/repair and require replacement. I would still try to clean it and the throttle body to see if maybe something is caught in the ports.
