Default D16y7 intake mani swap questions.

As you may know the y7 manifolds TB sits retartedly and I wanna fix this with a skunk 2 pro series manifold and throttle body. Is it just as easy as switching parts or do I need to do such things as new throttle cable and sensors if any? It's on a 00 civic dx hatch 5spd I just got

Waste of money. Get a Y8.

Indeed. Unless you're boosting, the skunk2 is easily a waste of money. A y8 can be had for a lot less.

Even still, I think it's a waste of effort. I bought all the parts and never bothered doing it. It's $200 better spent saving up for a swap.

Was looking at the y8 head swap but can't find a working tutuorial about the wiring for it. If anyone has a link lmk. The faq's section talks about it but with electrical I'm not confident on myself going at it without good reference. I do wanna turbo this motor to 250-300hp

Edit: don't wanna swap the whole motor. Want a solid DD

Switching the manifold and throttle body isn't too difficult, but the issue is with idle control. The y7 uses a three wire (all-in-one) fast idle valve/idle air control valve, while the Y8 style uses a two wire idle air control valve and a separate fast idle valve. In order to use the standard style manifold/throttle body setup, you will also have to wire this as a common two wire idle air control valve and install an ECU that is designed to use a two wire IACV.

i believe you can use the ITM off a Automatic Y8 motor...it uses the 3 wire iacv...someone correct me if im wrong...as for the head swap..all u need is a head gasket lol...the time belt, cam gear, block, etc are the same as a y8

For wiring it's pretty straight forward for mini mee. Wire up VTEC and knock sensor. Convert 3 wire IACV to 2 wire.

swapping a skunk 2 manifold or swapping a y8 would be the same swap. u will have to plug the 2 wire iacv or run a chipped ecu and then you can run the 2 wire iacv and upgrade the throttle body. if ur staying with the dx ecu u need to keep the y7 tb with the 3wire iacv and there is no wiring to do.

I heard that a b20 crv TB's works on y7 mini-me/ y8 IM swap. Can any anyone confirm this?
It does have a three wire iacv, plus it lays down just like a y7.

from what i see no they do not have 3 wire. someone is misinforming you or some where read misprint because only civic auto and dx versions were 3 wire in the civic 96-00. but if u dont wanna run it or run an aftermarket u can just plug the 3wire in and let it hang under the hood and the light will stay off and u can just bump the idle up or adjust the flap to idle at 1k. i run mine though emissions this way with a 96 dx ecu it idles fine.
