Default y8 intake manifold swap question.

So I'm going to swap a y8 intake manifold onto my y7 head. I am going to use my y7 throttle body. Do I need a new throttle thingy (the bronze/gold thing that spins on the tb)? Or can I use the one on my y7 tb? Thanks

You need the one off of a y8 tb. The y7 was made to be used vertically the y8 has a horizontally mounted throttle body...

Y7 throttle body does NOT work on Y8 intake manifold. I tried it. I does bolt right up, but the butterfly flap opens in the opposite direction; there is no way to loop the throttle cable.

Looks kind of weird, but I guess if it works, then its fine.
I, on the other hand, don't want to tamper with makeshift throttle control. The original design is pretty clean, and that's what I'm going for.

Your write up is very helpful non the less.

Of course you "can" use the y7 plate, but it will lead to problems in the future. Just get it done right the first time.

putting the Y8 throttle body would require you to use the Y8 IACV, problem is the Y8 IACV is a 2 wire IACV, therefore won't work with your d16y7 ecu. You have to use the Y7 throttle body with the built in IACV

Thanks. I just went and bought the throttle spring along with an auto y8 throttle body. Too bad the tps sensor is broken and there's no way of replacing it otherwise I could have just used it. $13 isn't bad for that.
