Default D16z6 manaul civic ex-rough idle, missing and bouncing off the revvy at 3500 rpms.

okay i did an auto to manual swap and everything went great, ran the car for a couple of months and it ran like a dream. I made a mistake and was running low on cash so i put water in instead of antifreeze. i forgot about it and the first day it was below freezing my water got frozen/slushy. since then when i got it started that day its had a severe rough idle and its acting like its only running off of two or three cylinders. when it first started it would run right when it got up to operating temp. now it wont. the revvy is at 3500 rpms and when it warmed up i could turn the car off and start it back up and it would fix the rev problem. now it just runs like crap all the time and i cant go over 3500 rpm. and the car has no power at all. any advice? changed the plugs and wires as well with no results.

Compression and leakdown tests. Also you might want to start pricing a new engine. You know water expands when it freezes? What do you think that'll do to an engine block?

yeah i know it was very very stupid. so compression and leakdown tests. i just pulled the codes and i got a 19 which is to be expected. 41 and 7 which would explain the idle jumping. but what do you thing happened it busted my block? why would it have still ran fine when it warmed up if that were the case?

You just got off lucky is all. There is a reason you don't use plain water in an engine. I've seen a few cases where people did just what you did and the engine block cracked. Don't get so high and mighty about dodging a bullet.

Instead of being a smartass, maybe you should read grumble's posts again. The only thing he told you that you should do was a compression and leakdown test. If saving $5 to not put coolant in your motor seems like a good idea, maybe you should go price a new motor, and see how much saving that $5 could have cost you.
