dead stock Automatic D15b7 wont shift! Help
Ok so I have a 1995 Honda Civic Dx 4 door eg8 bone stock with a D15b7 auto tranny. I was driving home today on the freeway 65mph, everything was normal then it felt like it was going to shift but it never did. It was already in 4th gear. When it didn't shift, it was as if I was in neutral and kept reving but wouldn't shift. I pulled over stopped the car then put the car in park. Turn it off. Then restarted and kept driving normal but after stopping at lights it wouldn't shift past 1st. This leads me to believe that it might be the ECU. I drive it normally no crazy stuff. Owned the car since 06 Please help, any and all suggestions or info will be appreciated.
Any CEL?? Have you tried manual shifting?

There is no check engine light. And I was reading on one of the links posted, and it might be a contaminated solenoid. Said replace the solenoi, $150, and flush tranny and replace fluid with genuineHonda ATF. My car is out of the year range for a free honda recall service.
I just drove it to see if the problem continued, and it drove fine with no problems.
???
Flush tranny and replace fluid as precaution???
Thanks guys. Really apprecite it.

I checked the ATF and the level and condition is fine. Still red.
The problem persists so just stopped driving it. =/
Looked through the repair manual, not much help.
Knocked off other factors though.
Contemplating on replacing the transmission.

Changed the shift lock solenoid on the transmission but problem persisted.
Picked up a tranny from a 93 auto d15b7 ex 4 dr.
I have been dismantling the old tranny from the engine whenever i can get some wrench time in.
Any tips on removing the tranny?
Thanks!

There's one bell housing bolt that goes through the back side into the transmission, one of the starter bolts (the long one) goes right into the block and must be removed. make sure you take off the inspection place and remove the 6 10mm bolts that bolt the torque converter to the flex plate. The transmission pretty much has to come out the bottom. Also, EXs didn't come with D15B7s (other than here in Canada) and Z6 automatics are geared a little differently (overdrive is higher, so it doesn't rev as high on the highway, but it will be stuggling pretty bad with the D15B7.

The car i picked it from didnt have any ex markings and it had a D15b7 in it but the person said the car was an ex.
I spent pretty much all of today taking everything apart and i dropped down the tranny and switched everything over to the new one.
Everything went pretty smooth but i had a pretty rough time removing the front bell housing to the engine bolt. It was seized up pretty bad. Other than that everything went pretty smooth.
There was 8-10mm bolts that attach the torque converter to the flex plate btw.
Tranny swap went great, only had a problem with a broken temp sensor.
As soon as we got her running she drove beautifully no problems. Tranny pulls harder than previous one.
