Honda Oil Filters
So I changed my oil today.. went to Monteclair acura and got bent over for filters.
After taking off my filter I was comparing it to the one I just bought, they were different. The number of holes around the filter were different. The one I had on my car was the japanese one, had japanese writing around the black rubber o-ring but the other one didn't. I automatically assumed this one was the canadian one. The design on the outside was a bit different around the grip also.
The new canadian? one I bought looked kind of shitty compared to the "jdm" one I had on my car. Build quality is what made me come to this conclusion. And also, since when did the filters come prelubed? Seemed like it was used but it was sealed up brand new when I bought it... the ring looked oiled and there looked like there was oil on the inside as well.
Can anyone specify the differences between the filters? I think i'm gonna stock up on hamp filters...

I don't think they sell the hamp filters at your local dealer. You can probably get them through http://www.aj-racing.com located in Richmond, BC.
Check http://www.ntpog.org/reviews/filters/filters.shtml for a review of the filters.
The Canadian one blows.

doesn't IPS racing have a special on hamps...buy 10 or more or something making them 7 a piece? someone correct me...

Supply is running low though, only about 30 or so left. Should have more in about 2-3 weeks and will continue the special.
I never use a wrench
. a friend and i tried for 4 hours trying to get it off by hand, then went to buy a filter wrench, came off in a second...we were pissed..hah
I never use a wrench either. If I have trouble getting if off by hand, a flat-head and a hammer usually does the trick!
gm2000itr - who is too lazy to buy a wrench and then try to **** w/ getting it wedged up in place so it does it's job!

i normally get OEM filters from Hondaparts.com, but it's been a while and I went to local dealer and picked some up. It was Canadian. the black O-ring seems to not fit so well in the groove, and the filter didn't fit perfect into my filter wrench, but at least it still worked decent. In the past I have gotten from honda-parts Filtech ones and ones that are stamped "KOYO" from I assume Japan...
