Default Help with Driver side window!

I have a 98 civic ex and recently my window doesnt roll all the way up. It tries to but it rolls up until there is about a inch left and just goes up n down and making a banging noise while doing it. I can only roll the window up all the way if i put one hand on the outside and one hand on the inside and push up. Other than that it doesnt roll up. It also seems like the motor is really weak. Has anyone else has had a problem like this?

Have you taken the door apart and see if anything is blocking the window?

I think you are off the run channel, this is a common problem.

You will have to take the door off, inspect the regulator make sure it did not break, then replace the run channel, this the piece that is vertical and runs of the right side of the door if you looking from the inside, like a track,

it's the window regulator man, I had this same problem with my 97 EX and the only way to roll my window completely up was to push it up by hand also, Take the door apart and you will probably notice some of the teeth on the regulator grinded down (this is what happened in my situation) unfortunately there is no way to fix this you have to replace the regulator

I've had several of these cars, the last 2 (a '96 and a '98) had this problem after I ignored a slow rolling window. They eventually fell out of the track and wouldn't go up at all. One of the first things I did with my newest EK was to take the door apart and lube up the window tracks with spray silicone. Now the window goes much faster and doesn't bind up, which puts a lot less stress on the motor and gears. So once you get your regulator replaced, don't forget this preventive step.

It's a Honda thing, happened to our Odyssey. I was easier got back in with the new piece - everything was where it was meant to go. I really hate working in doors!
