00 b16a2 making knocking noise
I have a 00 b16a2 with drag turbo kit, running uberdata program. I was driving last Nite on the freeway. I was on 3rd gear going around 65 at around 6000 rpms when my car shuts off. I put it in neatrul and started it. It did kinda smell like something was burning. So I pull over the turn off again. Check didn't see anything on fire, so I started it again and notice a knocking soung everytime I accelerate. It starts fine and idles fine but when I accelerate it makes that noise. When i got home the oil was really low. Put oil in already. But it is still making that sound. Does anybody know what it could be? It sounds like its in the cylinder head ..do have a video of it but don't know how to post it. I can email it if u wanna see it.

Re: 00 b16a2 making knocking noise
You need to replace your rod bearings. You may have overheated your oil on the freeway, which makes it the consistency of water, and causes it to not properly lubricate anything. This would have definitely contributed to the degradation of your rod bearings. Usually when an engine starts knocking, especially on a turbo'd Honda, the first thing to check is the rod bearings.

I don't see how anyone can say what the problem is without actually HEARING this noise. Sure a "knocking" noise could be coming from the bottom end via rod bearings, but valvetrain can also make ticking/knocking noises as well.
Got a video with audio for us to check out?
BTW:
The "check your bearings" replies are pretty funny. Please tell me how one goes about checking bearings without doing nearly a complete teardown.
