If I have a 300hp goal would I want a turbo supportable to 320hp vs 375?
I'm confused as to how close I need the supportable limit to to my goal.

Engine Specifications, use of the car, max rpm, type of flange for the turbo used, what fuel? GOTTA BE SPECIFIC TO GET EVEN A GENERAL ANSWER TO SUCH A VAGUE QUESTION LIKE THAT.

Well to put it simple I notice alot of people using 475hp supportable turbos for 300 horsepower goals vs turbos supportable of 320-350hp. Wouldnt that just give them wasted power and slower spooling?
No. not necessarily. It all depends upon the questions I stated above. Its not that simple. If they are going for higher levels later, then no. you never want to use a turbo with a horsepower goal in which you're using the turbo at its maximum.
Most here use larger turbos than even needed because they drag race, in which they truly believe they need and want more power. But again, it depends upon turbo used and engine platform.
