Icon2 b18c type r turbo

i have a b18c type r motor im wanting to boost. i woud like to make at least 400whp. i need suggestions on what parts to get.

i need to lower the compression first of course. figured a 9.0:1 is good?

what im thinking of so far:
skunk2 cams pro1
skunk2 valves & springs
je forged pistons & rods
skunk2 intake manifold
garrett 62mm precision billet 6262 turbo
bigger injectors...not sure what size

You can still stay 10.0:1 if you want.

definately. my engine is 10.0:1 i dont have any issues. its in the tune and fuel used which helps dictate the tune.

i also wouldnt spend money on aftermarket cams when you already have the type r's. they are a sweet cam with oem quality.

880cc injector would be a good place to start, work up to 1000cc. always go a little bigger on the injector, should you want to run more boost later (which you will, we all do hehe)

400whp + stock itr = a short life

if you do a complete build then you don't have an itr anymore. personally i'm a fan of starting with a sleeved block when you do these 400hp+ builds. it keeps all that cash you spent in parts together and you don't wind up with cracked sleeves in 6 months. see california dad thread for example

a 6262 on a stock block is a virtual time bomb

so you think i should sleeve it first if im going to do 400hp?

whats an average price of doing that?

Power goal is 400hp

BLOCK

b18c JDM type r build
B18c block hot tanked bored 81.5mm honed and resurfaced
Cp 11:0:1 pistons
Eagle rods
Arp head studs
ACL race bearings
Oem head gasket

HEAD
B18c type r head ported and polished
Supertech springs
Supertech valves
Supertech titanium retainers
B18c type r cams
Hondata intake manifold gasket

FUEL
255 walbro pump
AEM fuel rail
AEM fuel pressure regulator
E85
ID1000
TURBO

PTE 5857 precision turbo v band
ram horn manifold
intercooler pipes
Tial 38 mm v-band wastegate
Tial sport 50mm blow off valve

know that higher compression and compressor spool time dynamics have no correlation, however If attempting to build a car that’s fast off boost as well as on. not a lag monster this is not a bad route if e58 is readily available in your area. with your power goals this should be attainable

WARNING excessive cly pressure may be too much for the stock cylinder walls sleeved is recomended

wow, thanks that helps a lot. i think you just figured everything out for me lol.
What about some darton sleeves? And would that be safe to turbo with that high of compression with those sleeves?

honestly check out benson sleeves. i beleive it like $900 for them somewhere reputable i remember. ive seen and read alot of bad threads about darton sleeves. Not saying they wont work but the installer has alot to do with them.

B18C 81.00mm (Standard Bore) 8.6:1-8.9:1

does that mean i'll have that compression ratio with that piston?

it's a rough difference for the gsr vs b16 head. until you measure it's hard to say what compression is. it's just a rough est. personally i would get the next step up in compression. 10:1 give or take half a point is perfect for a street car

Compression characteristics can be determined by five factors that affect compression ratio: cylinder swept volume, clearance volume, piston dome or dish, head-gasket volume, and chamber volume so just because you pistons are 8:9:1 does not mean this is your compression this number is what you your compression would be if all things in your engine are to oem specs and are constant unchanging variables, for example if you head has already been shaved 20 thousands that will cause you compression to increase. IE changing your desired compression ratio

i feel that you should do some more research before you attempt this build many of your questions have already been asked, try using the search function and google and you will find all you need and more

i love my benson block. has to be the best single part ive ever bought. its lived and helped hold my motor together through various screw ups on my part over the years that i know would have popped stock sleeves. also you cant go wrong with a golden eagle block.
keep in mind though that if you do sleeve, then id probably jump the bore size up to 83 or 84mm. the increased displacement will be nice but will still leave room for a few "accidents" if you ever have to go .020 or .040 over with it...

pistons with given compression ratios for gsr motors will have slightly lower compression ratio in a b16/itr engine due to the larger combustion chamber in the head.

if you are keeping stock sleeves i think the sc7016 cp piston kit is good. eagle rods are more than fine

just an fyi, you can find better deals out there that that site if you look. earlier this year i got the sc7018 for 550 shipped
