its a breather looks like a rubber plug or cap of sorts

 

Trans. fluid secondary filler.

 

so should it be capped or a hose to it?

 

I left it alone. Just make sure no water gets in it.

you can buy the breather cap from the dealer or get one out of a junk yard car.
21396-611-010 CAP, BREATHER is what it is at the dealer around 4 or 5 bucks.

No, it's not.

It's the vent/breather for the transmission so it doesn't build pressure, blow seals, and the likes. You should ALWAYS fill the transmission from the designated fill plug... If for some insane reason you can't fill it proper, the next best spot is the VSS (by removing it obviously). If you look down the vent tube with a flashlight you will see what I mean. It takes forever to fill from that spot and you can't verify correct amount of fluid. Sure you can meter what is going in, but you can't account for what might already; unless of course you just reassembled the transmission...

 

pretty sure accords and preludes have them as well just not sure if they are the same size.
