Default shifter feels loose? ('11 Si)

so ive had my shift cables replaced once by the dealer, and now the shifter feels loose again. is there a reason for this? it feels like im just moving the **** around, no resistance to it.

could my trans be damaged? bad linkage? cables installed incorrectly? is it normal?

im starting to hate this car, and its a 2011....

Did you look at the mounting points on the shifter, they could be loose or the bushings holding it are shot.

That panel above the shifter just pulls off to get a look.

You may want to describe 'loose'

I test drove a few brand new Si's and hated the shifter because of how numb it was compared to my S2000. I have a feeling you may just have a 'broken-in' shifter, not a broken one.

Have you played with any friends' Si's to see how yours compares?

I'll have to find someone willing to let me drive their si. All the gears go in no problem, it just feels really soft, like shifting through butter. This was occurred from one day to the other. Kinda confused

My 06 was very tough to shift when I got it, the bushings in the cables were frozen, it loosened up after I changed the bushings but it never got sloppy.

My new car was a little stiff at first, but it loosened with usage, but it is tighter than the older si shifter.

perhaps when they changed the cables they left out the brass center bushing in the ends????

Mine has just a plastic piece, no brass inserts or anything like that

Are the cables on the trans tight or do they move around if they are not almost solid feeling that could be your problem

How about going to the dealer you had it fixed at once and go drive one of the Si that is there and compare so that the dealer can drive your car and the other on the lot and if yours is messed up then you have a comparison tool rather than just saying (well I drove my friends Si and it didn't feel like this) just my 2 cents

The new Si's shifter is definitely stiffer. The FA5/FG2 shifter is a little softer.
