I'm currently running a 81.5 piston/rod combo gsr with low compression "8:6:1-9:0:1"
pistons. I know it's extremely low and it wasn't by choice I just got a good deal on it. So anyways my friend just sold me a short block he built 2yrs ago and never used for a great price so I'm going to swap it in and go retune for more power. It's a 81.5 piston/rod combo gsr block but using a LS crank and Ls rods with Cp 9:8:1 pistons. Are there any disadvantages of running the ls crank and rods? I know it should help it in the torque department but that's about as much as I know. I'll be using arp head studs and obviously rod bolts plus oem main bolts. The head will just be a stock port gsr with Brian Crower springs and retainers, Itr cams and blox manifold. Turbo setup is a inline pro t3 manifold 3" dp and exhaust with precision sc34 57 trim .60/.63. I'm hoping to touch 400whp or damn close.
Block was align bored and crank was balanced. Also bore and hone the cylinders for final P2W of 35 thousandths. All new clevite 77 bearings were used and thrust washers. New oem oil pump and water pump. Plus timing belt and tensioner. Ge oil squirter plugs

I don't see any disadvantages. Im using a gsr block with ls crank and ls eagle rods. I do think that u need to either modify or remove the oil squirters (I took mine out with the ge plug kit)
