Default Neptune Questions Datalogging/Hardware

Hey everyone

I just have a few questions regarding Neptune before I purchase a copy... I have what Im guessing is the free version now and can't seem to get datalogging to work? I use a TTL converter to USB from my ECU to datalog using other programs but can\t seem to get it to work with Neptune. Am I missing something??

When I tuned my cars last year I had bought an ostrich and chip burner. But I lent it out and never saw it again.. So before I order another emulator and chip burner I just want to make sure this is the best choice for me with the daemons out now for Neptune. I have 3 cars that I have built over the years so I would like to be able to burn chips and just place them in the sockets once I have a proper tune configured.. Can this be done with Neptune? Or do I need a special license? I don't plan on tuning for money seeing as theres already a few tuners around I just want to tune my cars and burn the maps onto chips like I did before with crome. I will be placing my order tomorrow for my emulator/burner so any insight anyone can offer before that would be appreciated.

Thanks

You need NepTune to be able to datalog with the NepTune software, that goes without saying. No, you can't burn chips. You'll only be able to tune one car. The car that the hardware is currently connected to.

Yes I understand that but does neptune support datalogging via the 4 Pin header in the ECU threw TTL USB to serial??

And a local fella here burns chips after tuning with neptune for people, or was he feeding me crap?? I seen him using the ostrich/chip2 burner with neptune interface then he burned the chip and placed it in the ECU so I figured it was supported... Ugh I really wanna switch to neptune I really enjoy the interface over crome :S
Thanks

That "fella" maybe an authorized dealer/tuner?
Contact hrtuning.com with his first/last name to find out :-)

Could be! He tuned one of my friends car using neptune and I was impressed with how the GUI looked/felt so been doing some reading on it. Does Neptune sell tuner licences that allow tunes to be burned to 27SF512 style chips? Im just looking for something I can tune my vehicles with but not having to buy 3 ostrich units to sit in my cars. My girlfriend hates when I have wires running from her ECU all over the place :S lol. I would like to stay with moates chip burner and emulator tho as its something I have used for years and am very familiar with.

Thanks

Do you mean my chip must be tuned with Neptune to Datalog with Neptune free?

NepTune clearly wouldn't datalog a Crome chip since it's a different product. I'm not sure what you were expecting, but your expectations of compatibility are too high. They're not the same.

You've already stated you're not trying to tune for others so you can't obtain a tuner license. That's for professional use only.

Sorry, I wasn't to sure if it mattered. I see why freelog has different settings depending on what software used to tune.

Well what's stopping me from getting a tuner licence and paying the fees on my 3 vehicles?? I do tune other peoples cars but not to many right now... I'm sure if I had a tuner licence like Crome but for Neptune I'd tune more cars if the price was right.. But I'm guessing my friend who lives in Ottawa already has the tuner licence and I think I read somewhere that they try to keep dealers spread out to stop price wars. But I could be wrong.

Thanks

You do realize that HRtuning is the maker of Neptune right?

I try to avoid having people get setup as a dealer if it's for personal use only. I do generally try to keep some distance between dealers, you're correct.

I was talking with one of the Neptune tuners here and he says Ottawa already full I actually do tune other cars I just didn't want to seem like a "noob" to the locals with a thread like this. (sounds craZy I know lol) ever since I seen the Neptune interface used I've fallen inlove and now when run into my usual problems with crome I just want to get rid of it and switch to Neptune

you will never regret moving away from crome. i cut my teeth on turboedit, and then moved to ectune, and every time i have to use crome i just sit there imagining myself punching babys.
