Have some questions about tuning.
I just got tuned yesterday on the street with crome pro. And now I want to learn how to tune myself. I been researching on xenocron.com and pgmfi.org and learned alot, but still have many questions that hopefully you guys can answer.
I currently have a laptop running crome free. I know I would also need a chipped ecu for tuning, a hulog for datalogging, a wideband to read the A/F ratios, and a moates chip burner to burn the chips to the customers ecu after the dyno tuning(let me know if I missed something), but what is an emulator ? I don't understand what that is and is it needed ? And based on my research this is all I need or am I missing something ? I want to get everything done right the first time and order all the nessecary tools.
Other than this I just need to practice tuning on a vehicle. Also if you can teach me what all the values in the fuel maps determine and how I would change them for the best power/reliability. Thanks, and I know searching more is good, but sometimes having other people give you some knowledge helps.

Re: Have some questions about tuning. (redDAinteg)
The numbers on the fuel map roughly correspond to how long the injectors should be open for. Higher numbers = more fuel, lower numbers = less fuel. You use these in conjunction with a wideband to tune to a desired AFR at a given rpm/load point. There's plenty of info out there on AFR tuning. Innovate (wideband manufacturer) has lots of good info on tuning with a wideband: http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/resources.php

you dont need an emulator but it makes tuning quicker so you dont need to burn chips (also called a Real Time Programmer... RTP)
an emulator is just something that copys something else...
IE. a little computer box pretending its a chip.
check out this link on PGMFI for some more turning info (if you havnt seen it)

Thanks for the info, im going to read everything on that site. Also so when you change the numbers for a richer/leaner tune, is that considered datalogging ?

No it is not.
Datalogging is logging events via the software you are using i.e. rpms, load point, air fuel ratio.
Start reading, then get back to us with more specific questions
