A/C Turns off randomly
Hey everybody, A/C question for you.
The problem: A/C turns itself off (condenser fan and clutch off)-or it will turn on for 2 seconds then the fan will spin off and clutch disengage
What I have checked: A/C switch (jumped it), relays and fuses, climate control inside unit, also had a leak test last year so I should have enough refrigerant pressure
When it does work: When I hold down the recirculate button on the climate control-comes in cold with condenser fan on and clutch engaged. At night it will usually work as well or when I first start up the car (works for a few minutes, when it's really hot out it doesn't work)
I think there may be a short? Where could I find the A/C thermostat so I could check that and the switch that comes off that? If I use a volt meter to test it, where should I start? Any ideas would help!
Specs: 1994 Honda Civic DX stock.
Thanks!

I am wondering if there is a problem in the AC control panel on the dash, I know some Acuras had this issue.
When you hit the AC button doe sit stay lit?
A simple check, on top of the dryer there is a switch, unplug it and put an ohm meter to it (one lead to each post) and see if it reads 00

motegicivic, The light does stay on when it is switched in, if I mash it down farther it stays on while I keep holding it, but otherwise it wants to turn off if its really hot out, tonight it was working fine, and I took apart the climate control unit and I didn't see anything wrong with switch compared to the other ones on the panel. I will try to check that, and I am trying to check the grounds but don't know how many ground wires there are?
Sounds like a bad heater control panel.
A Blu/Red wire runs from the thermostat to the heater control panel. If you ground this wire at the rear of the heater control panel, does the A/C now work without shutting off? If so, replace the heater control panel.
