I have this turbo :

Garrett Turbocharger, T3/T4E, 60Trim Compressor, StageIIITurbine

from ATP, with a .64 a/r on the exhaust side.



I have an LS/VTEC with comp ratio 9:1.
I'm just out of break-in period and boosting only 6 psi for the moment.

The turbo spools fully at 4500-5000 rpm.
is this normal for this configuration ?
or should there be a leak somewhere.

I'm using a standard GSR map + added some boost columns with conservative values. I did not do any extensive tuning, however, the spool time is still not good I think..

 

Sounds about right if it's on a 1.8L setup.

 

yeah it's 1.8. so when will it spool fully when I boost 17-18 psi, do you think ?

And what can be done to make it spool faster ?
cams ? tuning ? anything else ?

 

yea it's a 60 trim and you should be able to fully spool it with your setup.

 

1. you have a 60 trim, if you wanted it to wake up earlier you should have bought a 50

2. tune the car correctly

 

my ebay turbo(hot, 63a/r) spooled at around the same time too, not a problem.
