Default EG hatch door warning light help!

After taking some hard spins the hatch door warning light is on even when it is closed.

Before, the trunk light would turn off when I close the trunk. Now, the trunk interior light is dimmed when it is closed but remains on. It is brighter when I open the upper trunk. I played around the reciever but it didn't help. Can someone please help? Thanks!

Sounds like a bad ground or a short? I didn't even know the hatch had that sensor? Where is it located?

There's a wire connecting to the latch's reciever. If you trace it down, you will find a ground wire attaching to the panel. Those 2 wires are tight and look clean without cuts.

a bad ground would cause the light to not come on!
the switch could be bad or you have a break in the wire somewhere, inspect the entire wire looking for breaks or tears
