A slightly unusual obd1-obd2 conversion question(Please help, have searched)
I am not new to conversions or swaps but this swap was a first for me. I am in the process of putting and obd1 ls motor into an 1998 honda crv. I would post this in the crv section but i feel like no one really actually goes on there for this kind of stuff(maybe im wrong). The intake manifold was swapped onto the ls, along with the tranny(etc). Im basically just using the block and head. I noticed that the plug for the dizzy was much like a 99-00 civic plug. The pins were the same size as an obd1 plug so i de-pinned my obd1 ls dizzy and put an obd2 plug on(which plugs in fine and all wires match except for blue and the big black/ylw)
So onto my problem, i tried starting it for ***** and giggles and it was backfiring and not starting at all. I figured this would happen and am wondering if its from the crank possition sensor. Do i still need to do the crank position sensor bypass? I would be confident but the fact that the 1998 crv dizzy plug is the same as a 99-00 is making me worry that the wiring is different.
Long story short what wiring do i have to perform to get this motor to run, should i..
1.swap out a obd2 oil pump and run the obd2 dizzy and crank possition sensor
2.do the crank possition sensor bypass trick
3. give up on life. hahaha
thank you in advance
