94 civic ex wont go past 5400 rpm

Default 94 civic ex wont go past 5400 rpm

I recently bought a 94 civic ex with a single cam vtec zc swap with 188000 miles on swap......i tried to gun it but rpm wont go past 5400 which is weird cuz my z6 hits 7400 wid no problems nd i read that dey are similar engines so if anyone can help mi out wid dis thanks

maybe it could be the ecu or something not letting it go pass 5400 rpm....


i have a d15b7 and goes up to 5800 rpm

It can be your ecu like the guy said. and also check if you have a knock sensor. if you dont have one that might be the problem.

what speed do you top out in each gear? tach could just be inaccurate.

someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but if I recall correctly an EX trans should be around:

1st 35
2nd 62
3rd 92

If you're using a P28 it doesn't use a knock sensor. I'm guessing you have a check engine light lit in the dash?

Im using a p28 nd i have no check engine light
A friend told mi it could be my clutch is that possible?

A bad clutch wouldn't keep an engine from reving up. If your clutch was bad, you'll go up in RPMs and not go anywhere. For example, your cruising at 35mph in third gear, you give it some gas, and as the RPMs go up a few hundred you notice you're still going 35mph.

it cant be the clutch... check the ecu like i told you... or repleace it with a friends p28

No, not necessarily. A bad ECU can recieive good input signals, but still put out bad output signals.

Tryed a different ecu nd dis one hit 6k so ima try anotha ecu
