Default Wanting to upgrade from OEM stereo

Hey everyone,

I just picked up a 2000 Civic EX Sedan. It's 100% bone stock. I picked it up from the original owner who was an older lady who no longer needed it.

I want to upgrade from the OEM stereo setup. Nothing has been changed from factory as of yet. I do not want to add any subs. I just want to get new headunit and speakers.

The headunit I want is by Alpine. Probably this one: http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/cda-117
I'd like to get a headunit that will work with my bluetooth smartphone.

For the speakers, I'm not sure what dimensions the spears that come in the vehicle are. I would like to add tweeters in the front which I've seen other Honda owners do, but this isn't a requirement. I would like to get speakers that have a crisp sound that can handle bass as well. If I have to get rear speakers that are better for bass and fronts that are better for sound quality, that is fine. Basically I just need help picking out the perfect setup. I would have all of this professionally installed by a local shop but I do not want to get ripped off with some systems they recommend.

Sorry for the long mess of comments.

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Also note that when getting that headunit, I'd also get the HD tuner box, bluetooth box (if not built in), and IMPRINT for the best sound.

The only other headunit I'd consider getting is: http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/ina-w900bt

Both units are good units, the single din radio requires several other parts to give you what you want.
bluetoothhttp://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/kce-400bt/
hd radio
ipodhttp://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/kcu-440i/http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/pxa-h100/and i would definitely do this. And thats well over 1grand in equipment, and dont forget if you are not doing the install yourself you will be charged labor for every item.
Now, as for the DD navi. Thats going to be 1500 plus labor and parts to get it to do what you want it to do. i love the dd(double din) set-up. I myself are a pioneer guy, great stuff, great price. if you do not want to add subs, then you want very good speakers. I would recomend doing a good component set up front and some bad azz 6x9s in the rear along with a very good amplifier at least 4x75 rms power output. While you are at it dynamat the car you will love it.

When I bought my coupe, the PO already had a mid-level Pioneer CD player in the dash and but the door and rear deck speakers were horrible. I replaced the speakers with MB Quart 6 1/2" components in the doors and MB Quart 6 x 9"s in the back. Even the tweeters fit nicely in the stock sail location by the side mirrors.

What's your budget?

I've had good luck with the kenwood x995. As far as i know, from a couple other installers i know, the kenwood x99 series are the best bang for buck right now.

As far as the speakers go, some components with a good amount of power in a deadened door will give you what you want plus more. No need for rears

I don't really have a budget. I found a lot of the stuff off Amazon for dirt cheap and its all new. was like 1000 for the dd plus all the boxes. I will have someone else install it. thanks for the info so far

running kenwood (1 below excelon series)
Blutooth ipod USB 3mm with a mic.

speakers: alpine type S front and rear

you get some good bass with those and some crazy highs.

i'd reccomend a kenwood because they are really easy and have a nice big display.

Yeah. I'm not looking for the most BAMF system in the world just because I don't really have a limit. I just know that you have to pay to have nice equipment. I just want something that has a clear crisp sound, good bass and good highs without having subs.

I've never had anything but Alpine but I don't mind venturing into another brand. Just was sticking to what I know.

So the front speakers are a 6.5 and the rears are a 6.9?

If you could provide links to the ones you are talking about so I can look at specs.
