Default Speaker Selection

First off, I have no knowledge when it comes to car audio. So pardon my ignorance. I have searched around, and I have narrowed my choices for speakers down to 2 of each. I want something that is a direct replacement for the OEM speakers. Plug and play! I do not want to run an amp, just would like to upgrade OEM speakers.

I already have an aftermarket [Panasonic] headunit in place. Now I would like to see which of my choices you would select for my application

Car: 1996 Acura Integra Sedan

Front Speakers: 6.5's

Choice #1 - http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi...avf=N

Choice #2 - http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi...avf=N

Rear Speakers: 6x9's

Choice #1 - http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi...avf=N

Choice #2 - http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi...avf=N

Which set of the above, would perform great ?

Thanks in advance

First of all, what kind of car do you have? I assume it is a GSR, but is it a 2 door or 4 door?

Well, here is the deal. You have an aftermarket deck, but you do not want an amp. When it comes to stuff like this, you should be looking at RMS ratings. RMS is basically what the speakers can handle on a continuous basis. Now, your head unit probably puts out something like 45 or 50 watts x 4. That is peak power. It probably puts out 19-23 watts of RMS tops.

Now, those speakers can go up to like 50, 60, and even 100 watts RMS. But all you have to power each of them is 23 watts tops. See where I'm going? Those speakers will be enormously underpowered and they will sound like ****.

I have even seen cases where the aftermarket speakers on an aftermarket deck sounded worse than the stock speakers.

If those were my choices I would choose the Infinity stuff. They sound good for what they are. At 92db sensitivity they should sound ok with your deck.

Good luck.

Ok, Since it is ruled out that I will benefit with an amp.

How many watts should I be looking for or what are things I should look for in amps?

Would I need a 2-channel or the multi channel one?

Would I be fine with this:

Thanks again
