Default differential bearings

Ok you guys I have a type r lsd and its going in my b16 trans and I need differential bearings, do I purchase b16 diff ball bearings? Or do I get type r ball bearings? And if I get type r, which spec? 95-98 spec or 99-01 spec? There are 2 different part #'s for those years at acura. Thanks. I looked at the 97 type r ball bearings and they looked different than the bearings that the type r lsd came in. They are thinner and width, (from bottom of bearing to top)

Just use the ball bearings; they are cheaper. You will need the 19.5mm bearings though, not the 18mm B16A bearings.

Also, looking at your username, if you really do have an EF, the Type-R LSD might not work, even if you change the final drive to the GSR/Type-R. The countershaft dimensions are different. I guess you could mix n match the ring gear/countershaft, but that may cause further problems down the line.

I would recommend you get a B16A fitment LSD instead, as they are a direct fit.

The differential bearing style for the B18C GSR/ITR S80 transmissions split in 1998. The tranmsission with sticker ID S80-3089682 and higher use offset ball bearings OEM# 91005-P80-E31.

The earlier model S80/Y80 before S80-3089682 GSR/ITR will use tapered roller bearings OEM # 91005-P80-003

B16/B18A/B18B use the ball bearings without the offset. You can use these bearings on the ITR LSD as long as you install a 70 thous. shim under each bearing.

You will need to change the preload shim to the ball bearing design if changing from tapered roller bearings to ball bearings. Any of these bearings will work as long as they are shimmed correctly.
