Default lsd shimming

alright i have and obx lsd and now its time to put it in. so i am ordering my bearings and new axle seals but what shims? is there a shim size that i will most likely use.

too many variables and a lot of shims to choose from. I have found that the obx usually require thinner shims to fit them.

If you are reusing/ordering the taper-style bearings used in b16/GSR transmissions, then you will be ordering a 79.5mm shim in whatever thickness you need to obtain a .004" clearance between the bearing and the gear-housing side. Going this route will require some preload adjustment on the bearings on BOTH sides of the diff.

If you are ordering the newer enclosed bearings, then you'll be ordering an 80mm shim (Look at the ITR parts) in whatever thickness will get you that clearance. Simple, and this allows you to bypass the preloading of bearings, or the reusing of the thrust shims on either side of the stock diff.
