Default 99 si a/c woes....

So it has begun to warm up a bit here in oklahoma and i ave started to use the A/c. When it was cooler ouside i would use it and it would work normally. As it is gettin in the upper 80's now it has begun to act up. The compressor seems to kick on and off pretty constantly with a small screech sound when at speed on the Hwy.
I got the cheap gauge from Autozone (non-manifold) type. Knowing how notoriously inaccurate they are It showed i was in the 100 psi range on the lowside. Which is pretty high. The only thing i can comeup with is that it may be low and the gauge is wrong. Also when on the Hwy it is cooler than around town commute. Thanks for any help you guys may have,...

p.s. There was anbig puddle of fluid on my underpanel coming from what looked like the condenser afte it made a binding noise?

Does the condenser fan run when the A/C is turned on?

Is the A/C belt loose?

Was the A/C on and the compressor clutch engaged when you measured the low side pressure?

Yes the condenser fan did kick on

Not loose

Yes the compressor was engaged and at full blast when Low side was checked.

Interesting lastnight it was cooler and the a/c worked normally. It seems the warmer the ambient temp the worse it works? It will not however be close to as cool when im at a dead stop.

Try renting a manifold gauge set. Run the A/C for 5 min with the engine at 1500 rpm and then measure low and high side pressures. Also note the outside temp.

Check whether the condenser is clogged with bugs and road debris. The condenser fan should run whenever the clutch is engaged. Does spraying water from a hose onto the condenser make the A/C blow cold?

I will try that when i have a opportunity, however last night i was driving in the rain and the a/c did seem to blow ice cold driving down the Hwy with normal compressor cycling.
Condenser seems pretty clean, the fan does come on.
Im tryna figure out why the pressure is so high and why when it was hot outside it did sounded like it was relieving pressure with a hiss. thus, the puddle underneath the condenser and compressor.

Again, you need to do this:

You never mentioned the conditions in which you measured 100 PSI on the low side. If this were true, the A/C would not work at all. Was the engine running and was the A/C on max cool?
