Default Heeeeeellllppppp

After the timing and balance belts were installed I started getting a high pitched whine. It sounds like its coming from the timing belt area. From what I was told the balance belt may be too tight. I know the timing belt can't be too tight due to the tensioner being hydraulic. Has anybody else run into this?

Have you found out anything yet? What kind of a whine are you talking about, High pitch, low pitch, and at what RPM's or do you hear it all the time.

Okay. Sorry about the late post but being a carsalesman I work long hours.

We checked it today and yes it is from the timing belt being too tight. However there is nothing you can do about it. The belt basically has to set itself. The only recommendation is to recheck the belt for extreme wear after about 100 to 200 miles. As long as there is no extreme wear you are good to go. As far as the whining it should go away on its own in about a week.

By the way THANKS for all the replies.

that whine is from the balancer belt being initially too tight....mine does the samething....with time, that whine should go away
