Default tilton flow control valve

the shop i'm going through recommended i purchase one of these to go along with my build because i had expressed concerns of my transmission grenading in my 8th gen si once i'm hitting 450-500 whp. i looked online but i'm a little confused, does this just engage the clutch a little slower to reduce shock when the clutch engages? have people found it to be worth the $175 or so that it costs?

thansk

The TB&C flow control valve is designed to reduce shock load to the driveline by allowing the clutch to slip slightly during engagement. Shock load is a result of an abrupt clutch engagement when the crankshaft and input shaft speeds are not precisely matched. The flow control valve is designed to reduce the chance of losing traction when downshifting (road racing, entering pit lane) and/or reduce the chance of damaging driveline components (broken axles, transmissions, etc). This valve can also be used in drag racing applications to reduce shock load to a driveline when launching.

how does that not answer your question? you asked if it engages it slower to reduce shock. it clearly says that right in the discription hahahaha.
