99' civic cx oil pump.
Im new to the honda trend. lol But I drive a 99 civic cx well use too.. It blew up the other day which im pretty sure was a rod knock. And I have heard its because of the d16y7's oil pump is SHITT. Im just kind of curious of it. Anyone hear of the same thingg?
was the timing belt replaced around 100k? The oil pump could be a bit better and some people install a shim to up the pressure a bit but if you are not abusing the engine then it shouldn't be a problem. Honda engines do have a bit of noise especially during a cold start up and is called piston slap and it goes away when the engine gets up to temperature.
More of an issue in the 96-00 d series is that they changed it from having 2 oil holes to 1 which means less lubrication and having a spun bearing but again if you are not abusing the engine and it's had regular maintenance with oil changes it really isn't an issue.
