Default Bogging and Loss of Power B18c1

Hi everyone,

I got an issue with my 98 Integra B18c1 GSR. It started acting up really weird. Whenever I start the car, the car would not idle fine. It feels like a total loss of power and not able to drive it at all. It dies whenever you step on the gas or the engine feels hesitant. On top of all that, the engine sounds like an Subaru STi with an aftermarket exhaust. Its shaking really badly like its going to die. On top of all this, no CEL! So strange. So this is a list of stuff that I did but the problem still persists. I changed the TPS sensor, replaced the gasket for the Intake Mani, changed the rotor and cap, replaced spark plugs, spark plug wires, o2 sensor, and even the headgasket because of overheating issues (I really thought it was the headgasket that cause loss of power). So I rechecked the grounds, rechecking timing, and vac lines. Everything is spot on! But the problem still there. So I thought its the MAP sensor, so I swap that out with a known good one. That still didnt help. I dont know what else to check. Help!?

Do you have good fuel pressure at the rail?

Have you compression tested the motor yet?

hmmmm. no codes? you sure? you tried pulling them? just because the mil isn't on, doesn't mean a code is not stored.
did anything lead up to this? or did this just all of a sudden happen?

Is the computer stock?
Does the CEL illuminate during start-up like it should?

I have the same issue in my EK LS swap. It idles fine in mine though....if you figure this issue out, please let me know.

So far the issues i have seen to fix this are:
-air in coolant lines = open cap, run car for 30 minutes, add coolant.
-pin hole in fuel line = bad fuel pressure
-timing off a tooth.
-IVAC dead and it does not throw a code when it goes i found out.
-TPS, which is weird, but when it dies it floods the engine with fuel. (sounds like you replaced it)
-bad O2 sensor
-temp sensor, causing bad circulation.
-blown head gasket, which you can see in the oil and tail pipe.
-bad ground wires

those are most. but i am with you, i cant figure anything else out. please let me know!

make sure you calibrate the new tps when its installed or the car will never idle right or drive!

other than that im gonna say your map sensor might be switch with the tps plug cause its so common to mix the two plugs.

if your car sounds like a subaru you should be carefull! this to me as a tech sounds like you bent or burnt/chipped a valve! this will automaticly f your motor up! or basically your head is blown. this will not in some casses set off a check engine light, the check engine light only comes on if a sensor is trigered! a mechanical failure like a bent valve will not set off a sensor sometimes. on the dyno my 98'' gsr motor chipped/burnt a valve and i drove home like **** sounding like a subaru!

when you replaced the head gasket which i dont know why you did because if it was over heating thats a thermostat issue or coolant or radiator pronblem, if you had coolant in your oil then you have a blown hg or if its leaking oil into the collant ect. did you have the head checked and or rebuilt while it was out! because if a valve is slightly bent you will never know just by looking at it!

i posted this in another place, but wanted to share my news, hope it helps:

FIXED! drove to shop. car died on the road. got towed to shop annnnnnd.

pulled the dizzy cap off and it was destroyed in there! white powder from the screw being destroyed. it was amazingly awful inside there. replaced the cap and the rotor and BAM worked perfectly.

check your dizzy! just pull the three screws holding the cap on, open her up and look for the little screw that is holding the rotor on. make SURE its there.
