when driving in 5th gear at 120kmh today it jsut started making a weird noise...almost like a skate sharpener....only under load....so if im coasting with the clutch in/out it wont make noise ONLY while in the gas in gear! mostly in 4th and 5th. now in 3rd at low rmp in town it kinda makes like a ticking noise almost...

any idea's?

i kinda thought/ hope it is the half shaft.

 

Drve To work today...still doing it....sounds almost like a whistling or humming at low speed like 80kmh in 5th

 

I think it might be your shifter/transmission bushings that need to be replaced. I am not 100 % sure though. Bump.

 

like right up by the shifter? or the one at the trans???

 

please tell me theres fluid in the trans???

 

most deffinatly fluid in the tranny.....

 

could this also be the start of a wheel bearing? it does not make any difference if im going straight or turning tho...

 

Sounds like what happened to my tranny...bearing failure. It hummed louder and louder until it started to grind. Then the tranny developped alot of slack and black lash when your on/off throttle. It's feel/sound is really RPM dependent. It's a GSR tranny but it had like 350XXXkms on it. I just kept driving on it...it's been about 6 months since it started and it's still driving but it's fubarred now...a good reason to upgrade I guess...

 

hmm...im hoping thats not it...im just trying to refrain from taking it to a shop...since i dont really want to ive always done my own stuff. im just stumped
