Default Turbo F22B2 build "Maybe??"

Hey everyone a friend of mine is building a B18b1 turbo and I was so shocked on how inexpensive the engine work is which leads me to want to possibly build an accord engine and put in something not so common of a car.

So realistically if I had a f22 block honed/ and resurfaced got new main bearings, new connecting rods/pistons/rings new arp main bolts, and with an oem cam and an oem head would I be really limited hp wise? I have never done a boosted engine before. I have read that a stock f22 head flows well, but this would be a daily driver not a race car, but having some pep under the hood isn't bad.

so the bottom end would be built really well, no sleeves though as that will add another 1000 to the bill.

Other then connecting rod failure and the rod going though the side of the block I guess being realistic what kind of boost levels can be safely had?

I'm pretty sure the rpm limit would be left alone as the f22 transmission is plenty gear ratio wise.

Thanks

This is kind of a general discussion topic.

With a built block, safe boost levels depend on the rest of the setup and the tune...

Stock sleeves in the f22b2 are iron so they are pretty strong. With good internals and a stock sleeve that has not been bored to much... you should have a pretty strong motor for boost.

How much will it take, well that is not an exact science but people have made just over 400whp on stock sleeves to my knowledge. I would imagine they could go further since they are iron sleeves but I do not know of anyone who has pushed one far enough to find the limit of them. The fact that you do not hear about boosted f22 sohc's cracking sleeves often or really at all... says they are pretty strong imo.

With a turbo setup that would support it, fuel system, proper tune, management, and decent internals I would bet you could get upward of 400+whp.

The b2 head I might swap for a b1 if you can just to get a little more bang for your buck.
