Default 00 Civic/OBD2 b18 swap/p28 ECU - crank sensor code 4

hey guys, I'm trying to help out a friend and figure out what is going on with his car. It is currently throwing code 4 and will not let him rev out obviously.

His setup is:

p28 ecu
jumper harness
b18b (obd2)
2000 civic
obd1 dizzy converted to obd2- wiring is correct

He has tried swapping dizzys with no luck.

I was talking to him and I encouraged him to try the ckf bypass trick before I knew the motor was obd2.. well anyway, when he looked at the crank sensor plug on the harness side there are 3 wires and on the sensor side connected to the crank there are only two wires.

Is there a difference in the crank sensors in integras and civics .. or maybe a difference in obd2a vs obd2b... I don't see why there would be three wires on the harness side and only two on the sensor side..

This is the only thing I can think of that MIGHT be causing his code 4 issue...

If anyone has any insight on the 3 wire harness plug and the 2 wire sensor plug, or any other info of something we may have missed checking please let us know. Any information is greatly appreciate. Thanks guys

OBD1 ECU wont look for a CKF sensor. Code 4 is for the CKP sensor in the distributor. As far as the difference in plugs go Integras had a 2 wire plugs, while civics had a 3 wire plug, the 3rd wire is for shielding you just have to color match the other 2, but again the OBD1 ECU wont look for the CKF sensor anyway.

Sounds like a wiring problem either at the distributor (most likely) or at the ECU. What diagram did you go buy to rewire it? The CKP on the OBD2 is BLUE (although there are two blue wires) and WHITE wires and on OBD1 is BLUE/GREEN and BLUE/YELLOW,

see his is different.. his obd2 does not have 2 blue wires.. one of the blues is supposed to be the tach and the other is the ckp... but his only has one blue wire.

I'm thinking the easiest way at this point would be to look up the obd1 pinouts and literally run a wire from the two pinouts for the ckp directly to the ckp sensor on the dizzy

ignore colors and just go with pin locations vs this chart

yeah i used that chart but on a 99-00 the rpm wire is not ran to the dizzy so there was an extra wire left over on the obd1 dizzy--- which turns out has to be ran to a single blue wire on the drivers side behind the engine harness plug.. once i got the rpm wire on the dizzy hooked up back there it runs like a dream.. I had no idea the dizzy on a 99-00 only had 8 wires vs 9 like on a 92-98.
