Default Double checking arp head stud torque

K guys had a thread on here bitchin and cryin cuz I stripped out my block when putting head on the block......anyways got that fixed and torqued the head down. I used up all my moly lube so had to use 30w. I've heard with moly lube go 65 and with oil go 80. I torqued mine to 74lbs. im very paranoid bout stripping the block out again so don't know if I should go to 80. Idk guys this is my first build so let me know what you would do. thanx alot.

Make sure you torque in increments..

20-45-65-74-80

I'd go to 80..

If you didn't do torque increments loosen everything up and do it again.. you need to do that for proper strech to be achieved.

i used oil to 70 once 20 -40- 60-70 and the engine ran fine for over a year...the 1st time i went 20 40 65 with moly but forgot to put thread sealer on vtec oil hole and had to re do on a cold winter night...used oil to 70 and never had a problem the final torque is less important than the sequence you use...

well the arp head studs were used anyway so they probably have been stretched already and yes I torqued it in the right sequence.

yea I torqued it down this morning to 80lbs. thanks guys everything worked and appreciate the help. now since Im putting the 1st cyl at tdc to put the cams in, If I don't have the plastic cover what can I used to make sure im at tdc (other than taking out spark plug). I noticed a notch on the oil pump and was wondering if I could use that for the timing? My plastic is destroyed so I'l probably get new plastic

also while ive got some help. i pretty much had to dissasembled motors at once so I think that I may have mixed up some flywheel parts. Im not sure how the flywheel goes on. Obviously the tabs on the act flywheel point away from the block. but I also have a small spacer. the spacer has the same holes as the flywheel (its about the size of a small donught. lol) but cant figure if that may have come of the auto motor I was working on. then also there is a plate that is about the size of the flyhweel. It appears that it should should bolt between the crank and flywheel, but it just doesn't seem to lay flat or look right. The only thing that goes on right is when I just put the flywheel on there. any ideas guys

with the bottom outer pulley and outside belt guide off you will see a line on the crank timing pulley which will line up with the mark on the oil pump at around 11 o clock mark

there should be nothing only the flywheel bolting onto the crank, nothing in between, id say those other parts are from the auto.

pics if ya can to confirm

thanx alot. thats what I was thinking with the timing pulley. This is my first build so I'm still learning on these imports. Im trying to push around 900hp.....haha jk. and yea I will try to get some pics of the flywheel parts I mentioned. Im pretty sure you are right about that. The only thing that makes sense to me is just using the flywheel

Correct. The piece that "looks" like a flywheel is the flexplate of an auto tranny, the donut ring is also used to install the flexplate. So, DO NOT USE those two items.
