Hydrolock damage - Is block still usable?
The following pics are of a jdm b18c gsr engine w/ hyrolock damage on cylinder #1. #1 rod bent and the piston skirts hit the wall at the bottom of the cylinder.
Just wondering if the block is still usable. Can a machine shop deburr the damage then hone?
If not, can the block be sleeved? When a block is sleeved is this part cut away?

-Thank for the input.

I had a motor hydro lock on me and had the same kind of imprints. Mine didn't touch the cylinder wall like yours, but it did get the bottom of the block/cylinder. That looks pretty bad IMO. It doesn't look like the piston skirt hit the wall but the rod itself. You can get sleeved. Good time to go 2.0. good luck.

OP, like allmotor mentioned, you can notch about 1/4" deep into the bottom of the block. It's done to make room for huge stroke
looks salvagable to me. but you should take it to a machin shop and have them smooth out the damage so it wont scar the piston skirt and have them do whatever it is they need.

OK, will check the mains and crank. If they're OK, I'll get it to a machine shop.
Anyone have suggestions for a good machine shop on Long Island, NY?
