Default JDM B16a Motor Troubles... Wont run good....

Ok so for the past week I have been trying to figure out what the hell is going on with my B16 swapped EG Hatch... It has a really sporadic idle when cruising around 70-75. Along with the idle it feels like it misses. Now day by day it seems to be missing at lower RPMs.... This is seriously driving me nuts.

I have put new plugs and new fuel filter in it and took my distributor cap off and cleaned it. It also isnt the vtec soleniod. i took it off and everything is fine.

I took this video and hopefully it can help with someone figuring out what the hell is going on. Remember in this video, while it is jumping around like this it is also missing

Also if there is anyone in the Pittsburgh area that would be will to stop by my place and lend a hand it would be greatly appreciated and beers would be bought!

things id check, throttle body, vacuum lines, map sensor, things of that sort. my guess would be lack of vacuum pressure somewhere but hey thats just my 2 cents. my old one was more consistant thru all gears but who knows.

If nothing happens to the driveability when its being sporadic I would check grounds, lose/frayed wires, speed sensor and wiring. etc.

possible vacuum leak at intake manifold gasket. make sure your spark plugs wires are in the correct firing order also.

OK so i went out to check possible vacume leaks and wires problems this morning and didnt find much.

There were no loose vacume lines or anything.

There was 1 wire that was bare but it was in the passenger headlight harness so i fixed it.

There is one wire on the ground that connects the motor to the frame on the passenger side that was a little frayed but nothing bad...

Any other ideas?????

**** man that thing is going nuts, it drove me nuts watching it for that ime so what its like daily i can't imagine.

i have a JDM B16A and if i get on it hard my throttle is hesitant like i can surpress the pedal a bit and nothing happens then it kinda lurhes when it gets enough throttle. i have no idea what causes it but my dad told me it could be the carbon building up in the valves, as in when you gun it, it builds up so that when you go to use light throttle it will be hesitant for a while, while it clears.

sorry i know this is not much help to you, just though i'd add it cause you said about hesitation.

I would go with 4ga wire. check the thermostat ground thats the main ground for all your sensors. and making all new grounds wouldn't hurt if anything it would increase hp.

good lord.. that is some crazy fluctuations.. if it's misfiring did you try looking under the hood at night when it's completely dark and see arcing anywhere in the lines.. you can spray the ignition area with a light mist of water and see if there are any sparks arcing

well you should scan too anyways to see if other problems are causing it or are a cause of it. Theres a little plug to on the passenger side near the footwell you jump with a wire to read the cel code.. i think theres a link on how to do it on the faq section

The random reading on the RPM gauge could only lead to the distributor. since its misfiring I would think its a bad Igniter.

It was the bolt right one top where you can adjust the distributor. I dont know how it would have wiggled loose but i tightened it up and its all good now

so you're saying you only have one bolt holding the distributor on? you should have 3 unless the other 2 were loose as well. anyway glad we could help
