s300 question
Alright well my plans as of right now for my build is to get my friends s200 and have it upgraded to s300.
What exactly do I need to get. Like i see a bunch of upgrades for it like boost control etc.
I plan on taking it to a shop and getting it dyno tuned so Im not to sure what I should have and what I dont need.

you cannot "upgrade" an s200 to an s300. they use completely different hardware. the s200 is an interface box that connects to the ecu where the s300 is a circuit board that installs into the ecu.
Check our sponsors section where Im sure you can find an s300 package w/ s300 pre-installed into an ecu. if you want to add the boost by gear then there will be additional components needed. (ecu components, boost solenoid, lines, wiring)

true but my point is you would be getting a whole new product. they are basically offering $100 to trade-in your used s200. So unless you are getting the s200 for free then i dont see the point in buying an s200 just to trade it in. just get the s300 to begin with.
im getting the s200 for free. I have a speed factory 4 bar map.
Ya but isnt s300 like 495$+150$ for there ready to go ecu? I have a greddy boost controller so if i get the boost solenoid the greddy would pretty much be useless right?

since the s200 is free, its up to you if you want to take the time to trade it. do you already have an a chipped ecu? the s300 uses a slightly different procedure than other chips.
if you do not plan on using boost by gear then dont worry about the extra circuitry and boost solenoid. just use your greddy setup. IMO you would like the hondata setup better
EDIT: Also, Im not even 100% sure you can do the upgrade procedure without an original receipt for the s200. They arent just gonna hand over a discounted s300 when they dont know the origin of the s200. for all they know it could be stolen. Also they wouldnt want to give you a discount from their licensing fees if you didnt pay for it in the first place.

I paid 650 for there ecu, boost options, and a boost solenoid from pherable.net. I think, i def remember them only charging 50 for the ecu then 100 for the solenoid and i think the boost options was free. So they can work a lil deal out for u, i think evans-tuning might have a special on it right now
I bought s200 used and when I went turbo they didn't offer the boost upgrade for s200 anymore so I sent it in for an upgrade to s300 and got the discount but I did it through my tuner who is an official distributor so I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
I'd keep your current boost controller and not worry about the boost by gear so much. you have the equipment to do it, use it. Perhaps I'm just old, but there's no reason to use the Boost by gear with that. learn to drive your car correctly, and don't depend upon the computer to do the driving for you.

so if u turn the s200 in u can have boost options and a solenoid for at least 550-600.
Boost by gear is GREAT !!! When driving a fwd car its nice to have lower boost in 1-2 gear and crank it up in 3-4-5 gears. Ive got my boost by gear setup perfectly in my gsr and i love it. Minimal wheel spin in 1st perfect acceleration and a tiny bit of tire squeal in 2nd and all hook and ful power from 3rd on up
The S200 is a little bit outdated lacking the features needed for today's tuner's needs, thus the reason of the S300's evolvement..don't learn the hard way.people have pitched in to guide you to spend your money wisely.it may be a bit expensive initially but you'll be happy for the longest time, assuming a good tune follows.
