And to the op you gain no benefit's other then looks and sound. Take this from someone who didn't listen to the people on here I wasted my money on one you don't gain a thing. If you are really hell bent on getting one go by a cheap Ebay one and throw the filter away and buy a K&N or AEM dryflow.
Also take a look at this before you post it's very helpful.

DOn't feel discouraged, if you want the intake go get it, but don't bother on expensive ones, the ebay one is fine. Like the rest said it won't do much but it does help with sound.
Ya ebay filters suck but don't bother on buying a AEM or K&N filter, thats a whole nother 40-50 bucks that won't do you any good.

Got my AEM filter yesterday for the SRI kit which I got used, needs to be repainted. I do plan on doing more mods to my car as parts fail. You can simply get a K&N drop in filter from Autozone for $50 and call it a day.
The ebay intake filters are junk. That's why people buy a name brand filter for it. Ebay intake + good filter = half the price of a name brand intake.
The K&N drop-in filters are nice because they're reusable, and they also work better. Over the lifetime of that filter, you'll spend more on replacement "OEM-style" filters from Schucks. (or wherever)

I got lucky when I bought my SSM EM2. They guy that owned it before me installed what looks to be an ebay CAI, 2 1/4" full exh w/ ebay fart can, slotted rotors, SS kit on shifter, 17" enkei rims and a list of other parts. $5500 for a fairly pristine 03' EM2 EX.
Sounds like you have alot of blowby do a compression test.
