Icon3 Knocking Issue- 94 Honda Civic ex

hey. i have a 1994 honda civic ex with a d16z6 v tec. couple days ago i was driving down the highway at 70mph and i started hearing a clicking sounds. The Oil light came on and the engine turned off. Now when i try to start it i have to give it lots of gas and theres a horrible knocking noise. People say i might of blew a rod or it jumped time. If anyone could help me with the problem it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

yer could be a rod or a few other bits. that oil light means bad news its a pressure light easy way to fix it and 2 know for sure is to start stipping it down and replacing anything that looks fcuked. as its a honda D it should run a while longer but woodnt recommend any long distance trips

The oil light comes on whenever the engine fails so that's not important. You should check the valve timing like you said but do not run the motor again until you fix a problem. Whatever is happening, running will make it worse. After checking the timing belt, if you still have the problem, I'd drop the oil pan and start checking out the crank and/or check the valve clearances for signs of valve damage. Be prepared for serious internal damage. Chances are, your motor is dead and will need to be replaced or rebuilt.

Go to your local Auto store a pickup a "Haynes Manual". They are made for almost all makes and models. Find one fitting your year and model. It tells you how to do everything you could want. -Later, BR
