LS-Vtec wierd compression , and a bit of smoke.
Hi guys, I'm running an LS-Vtec and the compression is a bit lower than usual for LS-Vtec motors. Base on what I know they're usually around 190-210, but I only have 165-165-160-165. THey're on new rings, fresh block and recent valve job by a shop.
The car also smokes at idle, white smokes and its constant does not go aaway. When I drove it and had friends look at it they said its kinda blueish. Does anyone know what the problem could be??

WHat head gasket you use?..... If you used a LS and did not remove the rivots thats your problem.
White smoke is coolant, white and blue together says head gasket as that is the one way to get coolant and oil in combustion chambers.
The gaskets also have a right side up and down BTW. What color is your oil now?

Motor has 500 miles, I'm not sure if they seated correctly but a mechanic told me to use one of those engine seal to make it expand and it'll seal better

If your still on regular oil, take it down the road, and beat on it.. all the way to redline, then coast back down in gear once or twice.. this all assuming you are tuned..
that will seat your rings.. this is how i break all motors in....read your pm as well.

Usually smoke at idle is a problem with your head. Piston rings would be at higher RPM. Did you have the valve seals replaced? Usually white smoke is coolant burning, which may also be an improperly seated head gasket.

What do you guys think about the compression? I'm using PR3 pistons compression should be at least 190+. I was told that the ring may not seat correctly.
Change the HG and the rings.. and break it in like i told you
do about 4 different torque specs to it..
if your using GE head studs
I'd get everything to pretty hand tight, then i'd go to 20ft of torque - then 40, then 70, and finally stopping at 85ft of torque.
know the torque routine as well, dont just do randomness, find the correct torque sequences
