Problems going into gear.
Hey what's up,
I just did a swap into a 1998 Honda Civic. Here is what went in:
D16Y7 Block w/ Y8 head, EK EX trans.
The problem I'm having is that the car won't go into gear at all. Just can't figure it out. i also tried another trans and same issue. Any suggestion will help a great deal. What's funny is that when the car was on jackstands, it would go into gear but had a slight grind in reverse. When I put it on the ground this morning, it won't go into gear at all. I did add trans fluid. Thanks!

Re: Problems going into gear.
did you set up the clutch correct?
it will go into gear on jackstands because there is no pressure on the wheel.
sounds like your issue is the clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing.
oooor it could be a simple fix such as bleeding your clutch. did you bleed the clutch? could have air in the system

Yes, I did bleed the clutch and it works fine. Just having a hard time putting the car into gear. The clutch kit and throw out bearing are "USED" though. Could the clutch kit be bad? They have alot of meat on "em still.

Yeah, I matched the slave movement with my other Civic and they move at the same amount. I also matched the shift linkage and it's ok. What other things can I check?

Does it go into gear with the engine off? That shouldn't require using the clutch at all. If you can get it into gear with the engine off, what happens when you start it in gear, clutch in?
If it won't go into gear engine off, clutch out, I think it's a linkage problem.
A faulty clutch disk shouldn't prevent it from going into gear, but having something misaligned might.
