axel seal replacment
i need input and help im about to do this tomorrow i need pictures if you have them or instructions on how to do it as im gonna be changing both seals of the tranny as it will be removed out of the car so i can make sure im doing it right. the seals that im replacing is off a type r LSD 4.4 tranny please i just want to make sure im gonna do it right thank you in advance.
I had to do mine while the tranny was still in the car. PITA.
Make sure you put the right seals on the correct side, since they are different sizes. Basically you pull out the seals (a flathead used to pry it out, but make sure not to scratch the inside). Grease (with tranny fluid) the outer part of the seal before you put them back. You can use a mallet to tap it in. Oh, don't damage the inner spring (tensioner spring) during the install. It's straightforward.

The inner tensioner spring was all mangled on mine. So, if tension isn't even there will be a leak. Must be from previous owner when he reinstalled axle.
