identifying this tranny
OK, Here's the story. These guys that lived under my baby's mom steal cars. They got evicted, and they left a bunch of **** in the garage including a b series hydro tranny. I'm sure it's stolen b/c the I.D. tag is gone. The landlord used to be mine too, so we're cool, and he said I can have whatever I want in the garage so I took the tranny. Now how do I tell what type of tranny it is? I'm guessing by the amount of teeth on the final drive but just guessing. oh BTW, for all the ppl who are gonna **** on me for taking a stolen tranny, sorry but my car just got stolen along with my house being robbed for my tool box, tein basics, and a **** load of tools. So, I'm just getting what's due to me. ok so any help will be appreciated. thanks.
It probably is stolen, but you didn't steal it, and I'm sure it would be impossible for you to trace it back to the original owner.
Anyways, your first step would be to tell if its LSD or not. If you can see through the axle holes, you have an LSD transmission, although you would most likely have an LSD stamp on the front of the housing.

put the trans in 4th gear and use a clutch to count how many clutch revolutions it takes to make one complete differential revolution.
GSR 4th of 1.034 times 4.4 final drive
1.034 * 4.4 = 4.5496
4.5 revolutions y0!
