And this friendly little picture is my axle laying on the ground still attached to the hub assembly but not to the transmission. BTW im sure you all know the HORRIBLE grease that axle likes to shoot around all over everything.

well for the story...
just driving along at 5am started hearing some serious business coming from the passenger side axle. then BOOM my wheel jerks out of my hand, im spinning in an intersection. the violence ended pretty quickly due to my lovely fender putting that wheel in its place and stopping the oh so out of control vehicle. I get out of the car thinking the guy i bought this off of was an idiot (keep in mind ive only had my EF for about 3 1/2 weeks now) I was told the ball joints were replaced in that very side! guess its my fault for trusting him!...well all is well and she should be on the road tonite, just wanted to share my story. Anybody else have anything interesting like this happen to them?
Also ive replaced both upper and lower ball joints, just got to pop the axle and new axle seal in and should be good to go. Anything else i could be missing?
Thanks guys!

Same thing happened to me. I had a h swapped cd7 and the ball joint broke wheel fell car bent fender all kinds of ugly, dug into my advans, and tore them up, thank god I wasn't going fast........ the car lost all control when it broke obviously, from that day I don't ever cheap on safety.
got those links working for everyone to check out. I'm almost positive the snap ring was never installed in the lower ball joint. I'm assuming it was just kept in place by the weight of the car the few days i drove it. The day it happened i was pushing her pretty hard for a good half hour, maybe that pissed it off just enough for the knuckle to say "no more" and spit out the joint.
