Is it bad to run acl race rod bearings & std mains ?
In the process of building a gsr block with 81.50mm cp 11.0.1 pistons with LS crank/rods I have b18c acl bearing kit which uses std acls not "race" Im gonna use the mains & thrusts because they are the same but should I buy LS acl RACE bearings for the rods or regular acl rod bearings ? Im using Eagle h beams in an ALL MOTOR build gonna be somewhere around 220 on Churches Dynapack will the standard acl rod bearings be fine this is my daily prob gonna put close to 20k miles a year. Also Should I ditch oil squirters & plug em with golden eagles plug kit since my pistons are forged, or machine my crank .075 to clear squirters or last resort bend the squirters so they clear thx. I dont know if machining the crank to clear will decrease the strength or throw off the balance because Im gonna have this engine balanced & blueprinted sorry I some of this post is elsewhere mainly want input on ACLS thx
Your best option is to re-tang the rods for gsr bearings. Then run bearings which will give you the desired clearance either rod or mains.
Do u think normal machine shops will be able to re-tang them ? BTW u didnt say if std acls are fine or race are worth the $ Can you re-tang H beams ? What do u think im looking at price wise on the machining
