Default 97 Civic LX - power windows and locks won't work

okay so my 97 civic lx is bugging out on me...

my passenger window stopped working from the switch, and my power locks have ceased functioning for no apparent reason.

so i took my door panels off and all the wires are connected, for both problems. no blown fuses... any other solutions?

Check the wires in the driver's door jam connector. More than likely they have become brittle and broken just on the back of the floor (body side) wire harness connector to the driver's door. Inside the black rubber hose-ish wire loom that goes from the vehicle to the door. Peal back the end that is attached to the door and look for broken & cracked wires. If you are going to check them, BE CAREFUL. If that is the problem, others are not far away from braking too. If that is in deed the problem, then you'll have to decide how you want to go about fixing the wires. Your best bet would be to replace all the wires going into that connector from the car (not inside the door). I don't believe you can get that connector from Honda. I don't know if there is an aftermarket repair kit specificly for that either. Basically you would have to de-pin (remove the terminals from) the connector (without mixing up the locations of each), cut the wires from inside the car, PROPERLY attatch new wires to each (without loosing track of which wire's which), install terminals on each new wire end, reinstall the terminals in the connector, and verify everything is working as is should. I don't recommend just anyone doing it, and make absolute certain that the wires are brittle, cracking, & braking before you deem that the cause.

well the windows all roll down from the drivers side, and all the windows roll down from their respective doors, all except the passenger door. if you are in the passenger seat it wont roll down but the power lock worked prior to them all ceasing to work lol. make sense?

97 ex coupe... i can role my passenger side window down from both switches but not up from the passenger switch. did the dead with a dmm and the switch is bad...

second check voltage drop (v.d.) through the wires in the door jam... i.e test from kick panel to door switches.

i also tested v.d. from alternator to battery... was dropping almost five volts.. it caused my window to operate slow, and it didnt supply enough voltage to the door lock actuators...

electrical can be tricky if you need diagrams hit me up i have mitchel1

you nesasseraly reuse a connector you can just splice in a foot section of i think there are like 24 wires a couple are the same color but they are differnt diameters. match them up spilce each side. as long as you dont have to take your door off no problems

Sorry its back from the grave... Still not fixed yet... Haven't even tried...

If this sounds stupid just tell me... But could it be wires messing up in my aftermarket audio wiring harness? Like just a connection or two breaking down? Bc it was my brothers bang up job prior to selling me the car.....

What specific fuses did you check? And how did you test them?

I pulled and checked pretty much ALL the fuses, both in the passenger compartment and under the hood. And no fuses period are blown. I was just reading about the security in the factory wiring harness... So I figured it was worth a shot...

But no fuses are blown.

Your descriptions are difficult to follow. Tell me whether this is correct:

Windows
All four power windows work, with the exception that the front passenger window won't roll down and this problem only happens when using the front passenger switch, right? Or does the front passenger window also not roll up when using the front passenger switch?

Locks
The locks don't work using the driver's inside switch, right? But does the keyless remote or the outside driver's door lock operate the power locks? By the way, if you have an aftermarket radio, the keyless function is lost, but the power locks should still work using the driver's inside door switch.

and the power locks just stopped working completely one day. like not at all.

Window:
Sounds like a bad Grn/Blk wire that runs from fuse 10 to the front passenger switch. Unplug the connector to this switch and then turn the key to ON(II). The terminal for the Grn/Blk wire in the connector should have battery voltage to body ground.

Locks:
Check hood fuse 51.

Im also having same lock problems with my coupe. The fuses are good, when i open door with the key power locks don't work and when i flip the switch inside nothing to, no motor noise nothing.

If the driver side actuator is dead does that stop the passenger side from unlock/locking? Or could the power lock module be dead

Do both top test tabs of installed fuse 51 have voltage? Click the fuse link in my signature.
