pop into gear, apply gas, then CLUNK(pause), and then my car goes????
ok, i had to edit this, cause i got no replies, c'mon, someone has to of had this problem!
happens when i drive now, when starting from first gear only, and it doesn't happen everytime either, i'm thinking it's my motor mounts that need to be replaced...it just feels like the power gets to my wheel a little late, about 1/2 a second...or do ya think it could be my tranny, i doubt it is though! any replies much appriciated! plzzzzzz!

please someone has to know this one, all you so-called car guru's, c'mon guys!! it can't be only my lude that this has ever happened too, well maybe it is, but still, someone on here's got to know! thanks!
Sorry bro, don't know what to say. How high do you rev when you are starting out in 1st?
it's as soon as i apply the gas, it hops for a quick sec, just feels like a little clunk, before the power kicks in to the wheel!
I'm thinkin it's the motor mounts, and shouldn't they be shot after 10 years, and the last 2 years driving it hard??
One more thing, would a mechanic be able to tell really easily if it is the motor mounts, just by lookin under the hood for a sec?? cause i can't tell?
Thanks for the replies!
Maybe you are reving it too low? As for the mechanic, if you don't find one you can trust he'll tell you its the motor mounts along with a million other things, so be careful.

not sure what it is...
but juss for kixx (serious) - try starting the car off in 2nd gear. if yer afraid... try on a lil decline slope. on a flat u'll need to rev the car more etc. see if clunking also happens in 2nd.
it's strange how u mention it only happens in 1st and reverse. etc.
try more gas and easier let-out (smoother) on the clutch ... and see if it still clunks.
i wonder if it's a technique issue.
else, do a tranny flush as suggested.

It could be the bushings in the suspension components. If they are worn out, from hard driving and what not, they would clunk around a bit. Rev it up in first to about 4 grand and then let off the gas. See if it clunks then as well.
it's definetly not a technique issue, i'm not some shitty *** driver, and it's not my wheel lugs for sure, i did do a trans flush about 6 months ago, i put redline mtf in, i hope that's not the problem, i hear by some people that the synthetic is no good in there, but other people swear by that stuff, so i don't know!
i don't rev it too low either, it has nothing to do with the way i rev it, this just started happening about a week ago, and i didn't change my driving style at all!
Does anyone know if it will hurt my trans if i switch back to reg oil in there???

I know exactly what you are talking about, I'm narrowing it down to suspension, I've been told you check ball-joints, I'm also going to check into the sway bars, but it is a pain in the *** getting under a 5g and finding anything.
Does your car make clicking noises from the front wheel area when slow speed turning?, im thinking it could be driveshafts?, thou they'd have to be pretty worn..
i have a 5th gen that was doing the same thing...throttle cable was real lose somehow...tightened a little and no more problem

cybercrx, by ball joints do you mean cv joints??? are they the same thing, i'm not a total newb, i've heard of ball joints, i just don't know where they are! i got a helms at home that should help too i guess!
thanks for the replies everyone!
The ball joints hold the suspension to the car. If you pull the wheel off, there should be 3 joints holding the brake assembly and all that stuff together. 2 are ball joints and one is the tie rod end. Usually, there is an upper and a lower ball joint.
