Vtec wont kick in

Default Vtec wont kick in

So yesterday, i was driving and my vtec didnt kick in, look at my cluster, E-brake light was on. firgured thats why so i checked my brake fluid and its way too low, fill it up lights goes away but...

Still no Vtec

Its a B16a and was just wondering what are some of the first things to check?

umm brake fluid has nothing to do with vtec...there are many upon many "vtec won't work" threads
but to give u some stuff to check here: car has to be at operating temp, oil needs to be full or at least close, the solenoid has to work
(u can check it by runnin some wire from the battery to the gray pin connector and listening for a 'click') umm also
make sure the speedo is working...i may have left somethin out but those r the most common, good luck

I was thinking that since the E-brake light was on, the engine wouldnt let it hit Vtec thinking it was parked iono just thinkin

I think that has something to do with it kicking in, but you actually need to check the solenoid.

ya man wasn't tryin to flame ya or nothin, was just sayin...and the only light i kno on the
dash that affects vtec is the check engine light...possibly srs light that i'm not 100% sure, oh
and of course if ur oil light is on tht means it won't work too, check ur oil and the solenoid like mentioned
and let us kno from there

Okay checked the solenoid, dirty as hell, cleaned it out, all nice and silver again. teh gasket looks pretty good still just a little flatened out, prob gonna change it soon though. and im back in action thx for the help all
