swapping y8 into y7 car need help with wireing
here i sthe pickle im in... im swapping a d16y8 into my 96 civic dx that had a d16y7. i know that i will have to wire in the vtec selenoid and the vtec pressure switch, my question is can anyone give me a step by step with some pics or something so i know exactly what i am doing? thanks for all the help guys
Sounds like this is your first swap. My advice if you dont have the time is to get a 96-98 civic EX harness and start off connecting the fuel injectors. Then work your way towards the distributor and so on. Just look at the sensor plugs and see which one fits in each sensor. If your not sure if you did it right, take pictures and post it up here. Pictures will really help
However, if you have the time and money then just take your original civic harness, and start plugging it into the engine. Just guess it but start from the fuel injector plugs. Remember take pictures and post it here if your not sure which sensor goes to which
And if you still have the d16y7 motor with the original harness on it, then take pictures of that too so you know which sensor plugs go to where and then transfer it to your d16y8 motor with the pictures as reference

is it so hard to go search for an ecu pinout, compare yours to the printout and run the damn wires?
**** spending money. you still need to run wires to the ecu with his adaptor.
go to a junkyard, find the plugs for the solenoid and switch, search your closet or garage for 6-7 feet of 16 or 18 gauge wiring, and spend 30 minutes.
good luck man.

you're also going to have to convert from 3 wire IACV to 2 wire. That is if you don't use the EX harness. By the way what year is the Y8 you are using?
